Kala Sorenson is responsible for all non-baseball events at Minute Maid Park and Union Station Conference Center. She was promoted to vice president of special events on Jan. 1, 2001, after originally joining the organization as director of the conference center. Each year, Kala and her staff are responsible for over 500 events and meetings held at Minute Maid Park throughout the calendar year.

Kala is a Houston native and a graduate of Klein High School and the University of Texas. She worked from 1996-2000 for the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau as convention sales manager, establishing relationships in the sports industry and various associations in the Midwest.

Beginning her career in the hospitality industry, Sorenson worked closely with Major League Baseball, the NBA and the NFL as the Sports Market Sales Manager for the Westin Galleria and Westin Oaks Hotels in Houston.

Kala is a member of the board of directors for the Houston Downtown Alliance and the board of directors for the Epilepsy Foundation of Southwest Texas. She is also a member of Meeting Professionals International.
