History

Formerly the Dodgers Dream Foundation, the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) was founded in 1995 by the O'Malley Family to serve the education and athletic needs of Los Angeles residents.

In 2013, LADF redefined its role in the Los Angeles community, remaining focused on helping traditionally underserved families, with a particular emphasis on underserved youth, in a coordinated, thoughtful and strategic manner. The former four bases of Youth Sports & Recreation, Education & Literacy, Health and Environment are now three pillars: Sports +Recreation, Education +Literacy and Health +Wellness. The official charity of the Los Angeles Dodgers, LADF now represents one of the most remarkable partnerships between a sports charity and a team's ownership group, Guggenheim Baseball Management, including Mark Walter, Earvin "Magic" Johnson, Peter Guber, Todd Boehly, Bobby Patton and Stan Kasten.

In addition to a significant investment from Guggenheim Baseball Management, LADF receives funding through a number of fan fundraisers, player contributions, fundraising events and various individual and corporate sponsorships. In large part contributions support cornerstone programs, such as the Dodger Dreamfields, a program that builds and refurbished baseball fields in the Los Angeles area, signature partnerships like School Fuel which ensures breakfast in the classroom for nearly 700,000 students in the Los Angeles Unified School District and a grant making program, that provides monetary support to numerous nonprofits in and around Los Angeles. In partnership with current players LADF has been able to deliver coordinated support to local organizations and efforts such as Union Rescue Mission and Kemp's Kids.

Emphasizing specific areas of focus has allowed LADF to make strategic investments in the community in the most significant and impactful ways. LADF also provided the necessary parameters to identify potential beneficiaries and donors within the Foundation's pillars.

The vision of the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation is to remain a philanthropic force in Greater Los Angeles, increasingly using the Dodger brand to address and impact some of the region's most critical challenges.
