Dodgers Dream Foundation Programs

Los Angeles Dodgers "Team 42" Scholarship Program

The Dodgers Dream Foundation endowed a $1 million scholarship fund - the Los Angeles Dodgers "Team 42" Scholarship Program ("Team 42") - in honor of the legendary Jackie Robinson on April 15, 2005. The date marks the anniversary of the Hall of Fame infielder breaking baseball's color barrier.

Inspired by Robinson's jersey number, the "Team 42" program will award 42 scholarships annually to students in the greater Los Angeles area attending a four-year college or university. The program represents the Dodgers' largest commitment to scholarships for higher education to date, and is yet another example of how the Dodgers Dream Foundation continues to provide educational support for area youth.

The first "Team 42" scholarships was awarded for the 2006 academic year. The program is administered by the Jackie Robinson Foundation. Students interested in applying to the "Team 42" scholarship program should contact the Jackie Robinson Foundation. To learn more, click here »

Team Think Blue Program

This youngster is all smiles at the Team Think Blue Luncheon at Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers, Dodgers Dream Foundation, Kaiser Permanente and the Los Angeles Times in Education each year join forces for the annual Team Think Blue Program, which helps students throughout Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura and Orange counties improve their literacy and language arts while encouraging the development of a healthy and active lifestyle. Over 300,000 students participate in the Team Think Blue Program.

As part of the Team Think Blue program, teachers receive a newspaper-based teaching guide and student copies of the Los Angeles Times delivered to their classroom. Participating students and classrooms enter an art and essay contest for a chance to win Dodger tickets. Each year winners from each grade level are recognized at an awards luncheon held at Dodger Stadium with special Dodger guests on hand to present the awards to the youth. All winners receive four tickets to a Dodger game and all first place winners from each grade level are invited to be recognized in a pre-game ceremony at the game.

The Dodgers have participated in the Times In Education Program for 14 years, and this is the forth year under the name, Team Think Blue Program.

Baseball Tomorrow Fund Equipment Drive

Each year, the Baseball Tomorrow Fund teams up with the Dodgers Dream Foundation for our annual equipment collection drive to support the growth of youth baseball and softball in the Los Angeles area. On this day, the Dodgers will collect new and used baseball and softball items from the fans as they enter Dodger Stadium to benefit the Los Angeles City Department of Recreation and Parks which provides programs to 20,000 children in the Los Angeles Community. The 2012 collection date will be announced this spring.
