Jackie Robinson Foundation

For over 42 years, the Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) has provided college and graduate school scholarships as well as leadership development opportunities for highly motivated students of color with limited financial resources. JRF is distinctive for the depth of its mentoring program, which results in a nearly 100% graduation rate among the students it serves. More »

The Problem

According to the most recent statistics, the nationwide college graduation rate for students of color stands at an appallingly low rate of 42%, compared to the 62%rate for white students.

The Effects

These scholarships narrow the achievement gap in higher education and prepare future leaders.

The Barriers

Students of color lack resources and affordability to enroll in and complete college.

The Solution

The JRF Effect:

  • Four-year college scholarships
  • 42 strategies for success curriculum
  • Job and internship placement
  • Mandatory community service

The Impact

JRF's celebrated four-year program results in a nearly 100% graduation rate, which is more than twice the national average for African American college students and helps ensure the American Dream lives on through the young people we serve.

Our Impact

LADF continues to honor the legacy of Jackie Robinson with annual scholarships, ongoing programming and Jackie Robinson Day celebrations. In alignment with one of our pillars, Education + Literacy, LADF believes that access, opportunity, mentoring and support are key to ensuring higher education for students of color; the Jackie Robinson Foundation does just that.
