Jessica Lowndes stars as Adrianna Tate-Duncan in the new version of the hit drama, "90210," which is currently in its second season on the CW network. But the talented actress visited Dodger Stadium on September 19 to show off her singing skills, performing "God Bless America" during the seventh inning stretch. We chatted with her before the game about her popular show and her blossoming singing career.
Most people know you for your acting talents, but you're here today to sing "God Bless America" during the seventh inning stretch. How are you feeling about your performance today?
It is extremely exciting. Luckily I played a celebrity baseball game on this field so it's not as nerve-wracking because I've been down here before, but I'm really excited. I've never sang for this many people live before. I'm really excited. I can't believe it.
What can you tell us about your style of music?
I have a bunch of different styles that I sing. I ultimately hope to do musical theater one day. The stuff that I've been doing by myself is a lot of piano-based stuff with strings, and kind of Rock-y as well.
Do you have an album in the works?
That's eventually the goal. Right now I work nine months out of the year on the show. But I'm really excited because this year they're incorporating my singing into my character and into show, which is really fun. So there is going to be a lot of acoustic stuff. I hope by next year to actually have an album. But right now I've just worked with Carolina Liar, who did an appearance on our show last year, and kind of collaborated with them and came up with some music, which the show is going to be using this year. So it's exciting.
You have been living in LA for the past few years and played in the Dodgers' Hollywood Stars Game earlier this summer. Are you a big Dodgers fan now?
I'm a huge Dodgers fan! I'm originally from Canada, but I've gone to a lot of Dodgers games. It's so fun. All of my friends are coming out today. This is really exciting and I'm just really happy.
Do you have a favorite player?
That's so hard. I can't choose just one. But I'm also a huge Red Sox fan, so Manny Ramirez I really hope to meet today.
How have you enjoyed being part of the new version of such an iconic show?
It's a dream. Last year I was actually hired just as the singer, to be the singer of the school musical, and so my audition was just singing. And I didn't know how far they were going to take my character. And then, next thing I know, I had a drug addiction and I was pregnant and got offered series regular, so it's been amazing and I just pinch myself because I'm in the sunshine and we're filming on the beach and it's been really, really cool. And every day is really fun to go to work.
Are you close with the other castmembers?
I am! And you're going to see a bunch of them here today. They're all coming out to support. They're all really close, and this year I get to work a lot more with the girls, which has been awesome. Last year, I was usually by myself getting into trouble or working a lot with Michael Steger, who is one of my dear friends. Jessica Stroup is coming out today, and Ryan and Matt and Trevor, who is one of the new members of the cast and my ex-boyfriend on the show. So I'm excited. It'll be good.
Do you have any predictions for how the rest of the baseball season will end up?
I would love to see LA do very well and get into the World Series. Fingers crossed!
