July 16, 1941 > New York Yankees outfielder Joe DiMaggio goes 3-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to a Major League record 56 games. The future Hall of Famer, who has collected 91 hits in 223 at-bats for a .408 average over the 56 games, helps the Yankees to a 10-3 victory over Cleveland at Municipal Stadium.
