CAREER: Appointed to the Major League staff for the 2007 season...was a National League umpire from 1986-99...has worked the Division Series (1996-97, 2008, 12), the League Championship Series (1998, 2007, 09-11), the 2008 World Series and the All-Star Game (1992, 2008)...umpired the inaugural World Baseball Classic in 2006 and was behind the plate for the finals between Japan and Cuba at San Diego's PETCO Park...became regular member of the National League Umpiring staff in April 1986...worked his first National League game on June 10, 1985...was named a crew chief for the 2010 season...previously umpired in the New York-Penn League (1979), Carolina League (1980-81), Florida Instructional League (1980-81), Eastern League (1982), Dominican Winter League (1982-83) and American Association (1983-85)...serves as vice president of the World Umpires Association.
