MLB Tonight Studio Analyst

John Hart joins MLB Network as a Major League Baseball executive, senior adviser for baseball operations with the Texas Rangers. Hart serves as a studio analyst for the network's shows MLB Tonight.

Hart has served as the senior adviser since the 2005 off-season and is contracted with the Rangers through the year 2013. Hart was the general manager of the Texas Rangers from 2001-2005. During his four years with the Rangers, the team compiled a record of 311-337, never advancing to the playoffs.

From 1991-2001, John Hart was the general manager and executive vice president of the Indians. As the general manager of the Indians, Hart was 870-681. They won six American League Central division titles (1995 - 1999 and 2001), with appearances in the World Series in 1995 and 1997. While serving as general manager for the Indians, Hart received the Sporting News Major League Executive of the Year in 1994 and 1995. For 1990 and 1991 season, Hart served as Director of Baseball Operations for the club. In 1989, Hart joined the Cleveland Indians as a special assignment scout, but replaced Doc Edwards as manager for the final 19 games of the regular season (8-11 record during those games).

In 1988, Hart was the Baltimore Orioles third base coach. Hart previously managed for six years in the Orioles organization minor league system. In his years managing in the minor leagues, he was awarded the Appalachian League Manager of the Year in 1982 and International League Manager of the Year in 1986.

Hart attended Seminole Junior College where he was catcher on the baseball team. In 1969 he won All-American honors and began his professional career as a catcher in the Montreal Expos organization. He caught with the Expos for three seasons before leaving the organization and returning to Florida. He graduated in 1973 from the University of Central Florida with majors in history and physical education.
