NEW YORK -- Shawn Chacon silenced a lot of doubters Sunday in Game 4 of the American League Division Series at Yankee Stadium, and Mariano Rivera's two perfect innings sent the series back to California for Game 5 on Monday.

It wouldn't have happened without smart baserunning, some clutch hitting and a shrewd move or two, though.

And New York will have to do it all over again in Anaheim if it wants to play at home again this year.

Slick move
Though Leiter hadn't exactly earned any trust in his previous two outings, Yankees manager Joe Torre gave him the ball with a runner on and one out with New York trailing in the top of the seventh. Leiter got a double-play ball to get out of the inning, and Torre got Leiter out of the game.

Modern history
Monday will mark the eighth time in franchise history that the Yankees have played a fifth and deciding game in the playoffs, including six times in ALDS action.
