MINNEAPOILS -- Baseball's two best hitters are still struggling to reach Pittsburgh.

Despite leading the National League with a .364 batting average, Dodgers first baseman Nomar Garciaparra trails in the All-Star voting by more than 1.5 million votes behind St. Louis' Albert Pujols.

Garciaparra also has nine home runs and 46 RBIs. Pujols is hitting .312 with a Major League-leading 26 home runs and 67 RBIs.

Garciaparra's American League counterpart -- Minnesota catcher Joe Mauer, who leads the Major Leagues with a .377 batting average -- is a distant third behind Boston's Jason Varitek and Detroit's Ivan Rodriguez.

"They're both having great years, but it happens to be taking place on a year where there's a lot of competition at those positions," Dodgers manager Grady Little said.

"We were just sitting here talking about the number of players we have at the position of first base in the National League that we know, that we've played against, and all of them are well-qualified to be on an All-Star team. But they can only take so many."

Pujols leads all National League players with 2,206,409 votes. New York Mets first baseman Carlos Delgado is second with 946,093.

Second baseman Jeff Kent, who is fourth in the balloting with 483,513 votes, is the only other Dodger among the top five in the eight fielding positions. All three players ahead of Kent have more than 1 million votes.

Online voting ends Thursday night at 8:59 p.m. PT. The All-Star team will be announced Sunday.

Not done yet: Hours after announcing the acquisition of left-handed starter Mark Hendrickson and catcher Toby Hall from Tampa Day, Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said the team is not done dealing to prepare for a pennant race and playoff push.

The Dodgers, who entered Tuesday's game in first place in the National League West, have had discussions with all but a handful of teams. Pitching remains the team's top priority, said Colletti, who added that the club would like to make another move in two to three weeks.

"This deal will not preclude me from doing something else," Colletti said. "We've been making a lot of calls to a lot of clubs. We don't have anything out there right now that's imminent, but in my mind, we're not finished yet.

"Hopefully, we'll be able to keep shoring up the pitching, either at the beginning of the game or at the end of the game."

Little sets weekend's rotation: Brad Penny will start Friday against Anaheim, followed by Hendrickson on Saturday and Chad Billingsley on Sunday. Aaron Sele, who was originally slated to start Friday, will be pushed back a few days, Little said.

Odalis Perez, who is starting Wednesday against the Twins, will likely return to the bullpen following his spot start.

Brief stay for Seo: Right-hander Jae Seo wasn't with the Dodgers for long. Seo was acquired by the Dodgers on Jan. 4, along with left-hander Tim Hamulack, from the New York Mets in exchange for relievers Duaner Sanchez and Steve Schmoll.

In 2005 with the Mets, Seo went 8-2 with a 2.59 ERA as a starter. This season, Seo started 10 games for the Dodgers, but has worked out of the bullpen since early June. He owns a 5.78 ERA and has allowed 14 home runs.

"Not every trade you make is going to work out," Colletti said. "You always take a chance when you make a deal."

Coming up: The Dodgers finish their series in Minnesota by sending Perez, who is making his first start since June 7, to the mound against Twins ace Johan Santana. First pitch is scheduled for 10:10 a.m. PT.
