The Dodgers are hoping that Derek Lowe can continue his winning ways as he takes the mound on Saturday against the Diamondbacks.

Lowe, who has the second-lowest ERA among Dodgers starters, has not given up more than three earned runs in the month of August, a span of four starts. Lowe has been a workhorse for Los Angeles this season, leading his team in innings pitched (173 1/3), games started (27) and quality starts (17).

The D-Backs send Miguel Batista to the mound. The veteran right-hander has also thrown well of late and boasts a 4-0 record and 3.89 ERA over his last 10 starts, dating back to June 25.

However, his offense has been stingy in providing him run support as he is coming on the heels of three straight no-decisions, despite combining to give up only four earned runs over that span.

Pitching matchup
ARI: RHP Miguel Batista (10-5, 4.52 ERA)
In his last start on Sunday, Batista received a no-decision -- his 10th of the season. The veteran right-hander gave up a single run over seven innings of work against the Padres.

LA: RHP Derek Lowe (11-8, 3.84 ERA)
Lowe has won four of his last five starts and credits abandoning the cutter for helping him regain the feel of his sinker. Against the Giants on Sunday, he gave up two runs -- one earned -- over eight innings.

Player to watch
In his young career, rookie Andre Ethier has seen the ball well off D-Backs hurlers. Ethier, who is making a strong case to be the NL's Rookie of the Year, is batting .433 in only 30 at-bats with 13 hits, one home run and eight RBIs.
