Rookie Chad Billingsley starts for the Dodgers, and if he's got an efficient game with a low pitch count in his arm, Sunday would be a nice time to use it, as the Dodgers relievers are awfully tired.
Billingsley lasted only five innings in San Diego in his most recent start and, in 13 starts, has made it past six innings only twice.
Nonetheless, in his only start against Arizona, he pitched seven scoreless innings in a victory and since the All-Star break is 4-1 with a 1.96 ERA in eight starts.
Pitching matchup
LA: RHP Chad Billingsley (4-3, 3.19 ERA)
Billingsley couldn't duplicate his dominant previous start when he pitched in San Diego. He kept the game close, but the pitch count soared again and he had to leave after five innings, having allowed two runs.
ARI: RHP Livan Hernandez (10-10, 5.19 ERA)
This will be Hernandez's fourth start since being acquired from Washington. He is 7-11 with a 4.55 ERA lifetime against the Dodgers, but he did beat them in their only clash this year, allowing three runs in seven innings on May 26.
Player to watch
Wilson Betemit is 3-for-4 in his career against Hernandez.
