Venezuelan Winter League
Aragua 9, Lara 2
Cubs infielder Ronny Cedeno and Braves farmhand Martin Prado each drove in three runs as the Tigres captured the second straight Venezuelan Winter League championship.
Cedeno opened the scoring with a two-run single in the second inning, then singled home Major League veteran Edgardo Alfonzo in the sixth to give Aragua a 3-0 cushion. Prado broke the game open an inning later with a pinch-hit bases-loaded triple.
Alfonzo contributed three hits and two RBIs as the Tigres claimed their fourth title in five years and locked up a spot in the Caribbean Series, which begins Saturday in the Dominican Republic. Box score
