LOS ANGELES -- Umpire Kerwin Danley was released from a Los Angeles hospital early Sunday morning, hours after he took a Brad Penny fastball to the jaw.

Danley, a Los Angeles native, was resting comfortably at home, crew chief Greg Gibson said Sunday. Danley did not umpire Sunday afternoon's finale of the Dodgers-Rockies series, Minor League umpire Mike Muchlinski was summoned from the Pacific Coast League and worked first base.

Gibson thanked the Dodgers medical staff for attending to Danley Saturday night. The injury caused the game to be delayed for several minutes as Danley was taken off the field.

Inside the Dodger locker room before the game, catcher Russell Martin and Penny said they were relieved to learn that Danley wouldn't require any further hospitalization.
