Dobbs out of lineup with quad injury
Infielder hurt left leg in last at-bat on Wednesday
LOS ANGELES -- Greg Dobbs joined Shane Victorino on the list of walking wounded when the third baseman was scratched from Thursday's lineup with a left quad injury.
While Victorino missed his second game with lingering lower back soreness, Dobbs had to tell manager Charlie Manuel that he was only about "60-70 percent" after a ninth-inning at-bat against Jonathan Broxton Wednesday. "It happened in my last at-bat," Dobbs said. "It wasn't excruciating pain, but there's some discomfort. I came out of the box hard, my first four steps, and felt something in my left quad. I didn't think it was that serious. I went home, iced and stretched as much as I could and hoped it would be better. It was a little worse. I got some treatment and I came to the honest realization that I was, at best, 60 or 70 percent, so I went and told Charlie." Dobbs said he was available to pinch-hit, and hoped to be well enough to play on Friday. Eric Bruntlett started at third.Ken Mandel is a reporter for MLB.com.
