Options are certainly available for free-agent left-hander Randy Wolf, but apparently the lucrative, multi-year deal is missing.

Wolf said in an interview with Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com that he is talking with the Dodgers, Mets and other clubs. The veteran pitcher added that the tough economic times impacted his negotiations in November with the Astros.

A few weeks ago, Rosenthal reported that Wolf in November declined a three-year, $28.5 million offer from the Astros. As it turns out, before the pitcher and his agent, Arn Tellem, could fully digest the deal, the Astros pulled the offer from the table.

Rosenthal notes that Houston general manager Ed Wade confirmed that the team had to stop negotiations, citing changing economic times.

"I honestly don't remember how long that offer was on the table," Wolf told Rosenthal. "I remember talking to Arn saying, 'This is pretty fair. We're really close.' And I remember when I found out it was pulled. It must have been Monday before Thanksgiving. I was sitting at Burbank Airport when Arn called me and said he didn't really have good news. That's when I found out."

Wolf now may face signing a one-year deal worth less than the $9.5 million average the Astros initially proposed.
