PHOENIX -- Manny Ramirez's dreadlocks appear to be as long as they were when he arrived with the Dodgers last year, but after a lengthy contract negotiation finally resulted in a deal and got the outfielder in camp, manager Joe Torre wants no part of another grooming controversy.

"I'm not getting into that again," said Torre. "It's not all over the place. It's under control."

Torre requested that Ramirez cut his hair last year and Ramirez's slow response made national headlines. He finally did trim an inch off the dreadlocks.
