Manny perfect at plate in Dodgers' loss
Slugger goes 3-for-3 vs. Royals; Kuroda stretches to 5 2/3 innings

Royals at the plate: Jose Guillen drove in two runs. Mike Aviles had two hits, scoring a run and driving in another with an infield single. John Buck doubled and scored a run. Ross Gload and Willie Bloomquist each had two singles and scored a run.

Dodgers at the plate: Manny Ramirez went 3-for-3. Hiroki Kuroda had a single. Doug Mientkiewicz hit an RBI single in the ninth inning.
Royals on the mound: Opening Day starter Gil Meche held the Dodgers scoreless for seven innings, allowing four hits while striking out six with one walk. He retired the Dodgers in the seventh inning on three pitches. Dodgers on the mound: Opening Day starter Hiroki Kuroda was charged with four runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings. Erick Threets improved his chances of getting the second left-handed relief job by retiring both left-handed hitters he faced. Jeff Weaver pitched one inning, with all three outs by strikeout. Cactus League records: Royals 15-10-3, Dodgers 13-15 Up next: Left-hander Randy Wolf, who leads the Dodgers with three victories this spring, takes the mound against right-hander Gavin Floyd and the Chicago White Sox in a road game at Camelback Ranch.
