LOS ANGELES -- No doubt the Dodgers have a 12-game streak of home wins to open a season.

Tied for a record? Well, not exactly.

Trent McCotter from SABR Records Committee points out that the "record" they tied Tuesday night only ties the 1911 Detroit Tigers for longest streak since 1900.

The real "record" is 21 wins set by the 1880 Chicago White Stockings, who became the Cubs. McCotter provides the entire list:

• 21: Chicago White Stockings (Cubs), 1880.
• 18: Detroit Wolverines, 1886.
• 16: St. Louis Maroons, 1884.
• 14: Chicago White Stockings (Cubs), 1885.
• 12: New York Gothams (SF Giants), 1884.
• 12: Detroit Tigers, 1911.
• 12: Los Angeles Dodgers, 2009.

Meanwhile, Dodgers manager Joe Torre continued to downplay the significance of the streak in comparison to the wins themselves.

"It's not like we have nothing else to do and the next thing you know, we lose six in a row," he said. "For me, it's more about playing well. That takes precedence."
