Cooper ejected in eighth inning
Houston's manager argues after Keppinger called out
LOS ANGELES -- Astros manager Cecil Cooper was ejected in the eighth inning of Saturday's game at Dodger Stadium while arguing a call at first base. It was his fourth ejection this season.
With the Astros trailing, 5-2, and with a runner at third base and one out, Jeff Keppinger appeared to beat Dodgers second baseman Orlando Hudson's throw to first for an infield hit, which would have scored a run and kept the inning going.
Keppinger was called out, and the Astros' dugout erupted. Cooper ran onto the field and was ejected within seconds by first-base umpire Casey Moser. Keppinger tossed his gloves and batting helmet in disgust.
Bench coach Ed Romero took over as manager.
