Dodgers' Kemp sits out because of flu
Torre uncertain when center fielder will be ready
LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers center fielder Matt Kemp was out of the lineup Tuesday night against the St. Louis Cardinals because of the flu.
Juan Pierre replaced Kemp and batted second for the Dodgers.
Manager Joe Torre said Kemp had a small fever and that he's not sure when Kemp will be back to normal.
"With the flu thing, it could be overnight," Torre said.
Kemp is hitting .312 with 17 home runs and 76 RBIs. His home run and RBI numbers are second on the team behind Andre Ethier.
Pierre is hitting .321 with 26 RBIs and is tied for seventh in the National League with 23 stolen bases.
