MLB Network to air MLB Network Remembers: Incident at Candlestick with Bob Costas on Tuesday, October 6 at 9:30 p.m. ET

10/05/09 4:34 PM EST

MLB Network on Tuesday, October 6, at 9:30 p.m. ET will air MLB Network Remembers: Incident at Candlestick, narrated by Bob Costas, about the fight between San Francisco Giants pitcher Juan Marichal and Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Johnny Roseboro on August 22, 1965 at San Francisco's Candlestick Park.

The show includes rarely seen archival footage of this fight and the subsequent fallout. Early in the game, Marichal had thrown several pitches close to the head of former Dodgers shortstop Maury Wills. As the game moved to the third inning and with Marichal at the plate, Roseboro's throw back to the mound grazed Marichal's ear. An argument ensued and Marichal hit Roseboro's head with his bat. Marichal was ejected, suspended and fined. The show features new interviews with Marichal, who rarely has spoken of this event, former Giants center fielder and Hall of Famer Willie Mays, Roseboro's widow, Barbara Fouch Roseboro, former Giants second baseman Tito Fuentes, Wills and former Dodgers outfielder Lou Johnson.

MLB Network launched on January 1, 2009 as the largest debut in cable television history and is currently available in approximately 53 million cable and satellite homes. With live games, original programming, highlights, classic games, and coverage of baseball events, MLB Network is the ultimate television destination for baseball fans.
