LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers today placed right-handed reliever Todd Coffey on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow soreness and recalled right-hander Shawn Tolleson from Triple-A Albuquerque. The 31-year-old Coffey was 1-0 with a 4.66 ERA in 23 relief appearances this season, but had allowed just two runs over his last 11 games (2 ER/9.1 IP, 1.93 ERA). Coffey also spent time on the disabled list from April 14-30 with right knee inflammation.
Tolleson, who was optioned to Triple-A yesterday, has posted a 7.71 ERA in six relief appearances with Los Angeles this season. The Dodgers’ 2011 Minor League Pitcher of the Year has made 19 combined relief appearances with Triple-A Albuquerque and Double-A Chattanooga this season, going 0-1 with five saves and a 2.82 ERA, while limiting opposing hitters to a .198 batting average and striking out 34 in 22.1 innings. The 24-year-old was originally selected in the 30th round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft out of Baylor.
