Carlos Gonzalez Awarded 2012 Rawlings Gold Glove Award for Left Field in National League
Carlos Gonzalez has been named the National League’s left field recipient for the 2012 Rawlings Gold Glove Award. This is Gonzalez’s second career Gold Glove, as he was also honored as one of three National League outfielders in 2010.
Gonzalez is the fourth Rockie to be awarded multiple Rawlings Gold Glove Awards. He joins Larry Walker (Five, 1997-1999, 2001-2001), Todd Helton (Three, 2001-2001, 2004) and Troy Tulowitzki (2010-2011) as Rockies with multiple Gold Gloves.
Gonzalez is one of five Rockies players to be awarded a Gold Glove, as Neifi Perez (shortstop in 2000) is the only other along with Walker, Helton and Tulowitzki.
Gonzalez and Walker are the only Rockies outfielders to be awarded with Gold Gloves in franchise history.
2012 marks the third-straight year at least one Rockies player has been awarded a Gold Glove. Prior to 2010, the Rockies went five-straight seasons (2005-2009) without a player being awarded a Gold Glove.
