Seattle Mariners players have picked out their "favorite things"-from DVDs and CDs to snack foods and hobbies-thrown in a trove of autographed items, and are offering them for auction on Friday, August 23, during the Mariners vs. Los Angeles Angels game. Proceeds will benefit Mariners Care, the team's non-profit foundation.
 
Mariners Wives have assembled baskets filled with items personally selected by the players. The baskets will be on display during the August 23 game near Section 128 on the Main Concourse at Safeco Field. Silent bids will be accepted from the time the gates open through the end of the 6th inning.
 
Manager Eric Wedge's basket has a selection of his favorite movies and TV programs including Duck Dynasty, Modern Family, Big Bang Theory and two James Bond classics-The Spy Who Loved Me and Never Say Never Again. Wedge's love for Country music is represented by CDs from Chris Young, Justin Moore, Willie Nelson and George Strait. He also offers gift cards for AMC Theaters and iTunes, and a Jambox wireless portable speaker.
 
The basket of first-time All-Star Hisashi Iwakuma has a Midsummer Classic theme. Kuma's basket has an autographed All-Star cap, All-Star t-shirt, and a pair of autographed cleats, a baseball and glove. The basket also has a variety of Japanese treats including candy and cookies.
 
Rookie catcher Mike Zunino included DVDs of 42, the hit Jackie Robinson biopic, and The Sandlot, as well as Swedish Fish and Sour Patch Kids candy. There are gift cards for Outback Steakhouse and Starbucks, and an autographed bat, batting gloves, cleats, and ball.
 
Other basket highlights include a game-used, autographed Kyle Seager bat, a ball autographed by the entire team in Danny Farquhar's basket, and a duck call to go with a Duck Dynasty DVD from Carter Capps.
 
Proceeds from the auction of the Favorite Things baskets will benefit Mariners Care, the team's nonprofit foundation which supports primarily youth-oriented charities throughout the Pacific Northwest. Mariners Care, in partnership with the team's corporate partners, has provided $13.5 million for regional charitable programs and causes since 2000.
