  • Rays complete eleven-player trade with Padres, Nationals

    The Tampa Bay Rays have completed a three-team, 11-player trade with the San Diego Padres and Washington Nationals. The Rays have acquired five players: catcher Rene Rivera, right-handed pitcher Burch Smith and minor league first baseman Jake Bauers from San Diego, as well as outfielder Steven Souza Jr. and minor league left-handed pitcher Travis Ott from Washington. The Rays sent to San Diego outfielder Wil Myers, catcher Ryan Hanigan, minor league left-handed pitcher Jose Castillo and minor league right-handed pitcher Gerardo Reyes. In addition, Washington acquired minor league right-handed pitcher Joe Ross and a player to be named from San Diego. To make room for Rivera, Smith and Souza on the 40-man roster, the Rays have designated right-handed pitcher Brandon Gomes for assignment.

  • Rays announce 2015 coaching staff

    The Tampa Bay Rays have finalized their coaching staff for the 2015 season under first-year Manager Kevin Cash. After 13 seasons as the Rays third base coach, Tom Foley has been promoted to bench coach. In addition, the Rays have hired Rocco Baldelli as first base coach and Charlie Montoyo as third base coach. Former first base coach George Hendrick has accepted a position as special advisor to baseball operations.

  • Rays and Pet Pal Animal Shelter partner for third "Players and Pooches" calendar

    For the third straight year, the Tampa Bay Rays and Pet Pal Animal Shelter have partnered to create the "Players and Pooches" calendar.

  • Rays acquire Jepsen from Angels for Joyce

    The Tampa Bay Rays have acquired right-handed relief pitcher Kevin Jepsen from the Los Angeles Angels for outfielder Matt Joyce.

  • Rays invite three to Major League Spring Training

    The Tampa Bay Rays have signed three players to minor league contracts, each with an invitation to major league spring training: catcher Bobby Wilson, outfielder Corey Brown and infielder/outfielder Eugenio Velez. In addition, the Rays have acquired minor league right-handed pitcher Buddy Borden from the Pittsburgh Pirates as the player to be named in the trade for infielder/outfielder Sean Rodriguez.

  • Rays Thanksmas kicks off December 15

    The Tampa Bay Rays will host Thanksmas for the ninth consecutive year, December 15-19.

  • Kevin Cash named Rays manager

    The Tampa Bay Rays have named Kevin Cash the fifth manager in franchise history.

  • Rays sign Frieri to one-year contract

    The Tampa Bay Rays have signed free agent right-handed relief pitcher Ernesto Frieri to a one-year major league contract. To make room on the 40-man roster, infielder Sean Rodriguez was designated for assignment.

  • Rays Thanksmas returns for ninth year

    The Tampa Bay Rays will host Thanksmas for the ninth consecutive year, December 15-19, at the Salvation Army Shelters in St. Petersburg, Tampa and Bradenton, the Sallie House in St. Petersburg, the Homeless Emergency Project in Clearwater and the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida in Orlando.
