LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Dodgers announced today that they have surpassed the 3.5-million mark in ticket sales for the 2006 season, the fastest they have hit that mark since 1992.

"Dodger fans have shown just how loyal they are and they're enjoying the benefits now that we're back in first place," said Dodger Chief Operating Officer Marty Greenspun. "The final six weeks of the season are certain to be thrilling for Dodger fans and we're well on our way to setting our single-season attendance record."

This will mark the second consecutive season in which the Dodgers will draw 3.5 million fans and the fourth time overall. During the 2005 season, the Dodgers attracted 3,603,646 fans, the highest total in the National League and their largest single-season total since 1982, when they drew 3,608,881 patrons. It was the second-highest Dodger Stadium regular season attendance total, surpassing the previous mark set in 1983. The Dodgers were one of three teams last season to draw more than 3.5 million fans during the course of the season, joining the Yankees and Cardinals.

In 61 home dates thus far in 2006, the Dodgers have drawn 2,790,956 fans, the best in the National League. They are averaging 45,753 fans per game, the best mark in the National League and second-best in the Majors behind the Yankees. So far this season, there have been 12 sellouts at Dodger Stadium and 18 crowds over 50,000. On Opening Day (April 3), the Dodgers set the mark for the highest single-game regular season paid attendance total at Dodger Stadium (56,000).

Earlier this season, the Dodgers were recognized for a second consecutive year by Guinness World Records Book as having registered the "Highest Cumulative Attendance for a Baseball Franchise." Since 1901, when Major League Baseball began tracking official attendance, the Dodgers have played before more fans than any other franchise in the sport's history with a cumulative attendance in excess of 170 million.

Fans have several options for purchasing tickets to Dodger home games this season. They can purchase tickets online at, call 1-866-DODGERS, visit the Dodger Stadium Advance Ticket windows or any Ticketmaster retail outlet.
