LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Dodgers and KCAL 9, the team's local broadcast television partner, today announced that KCAL 9 has committed an unprecedented amount of airtime and other key resources to support ThinkCure, a non-profit charitable organization that is dedicated to raising funds for critical cancer research at City of Hope and Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.

KCAL 9 is the first major sponsor of ThinkCure, the official charity of the Dodgers, which was launched yesterday by the Dodgers, City of Hope and Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.

Beginning with tonight's "Think Blue TV" pre-game show (6:30 p.m.), KCAL 9 has committed to making its support of ThinkCure the biggest community initiative in the history of the station.

"Everyone at KCAL 9 is committed to making ThinkCure an integral part of our DNA and our ongoing commitment to community service," said Don Corsini, President & General Manager, KCAL 9 and sister station CBS 2. "Cancer touches so many of us, one way or another, over the course of our lives and we look forward to having this opportunity to work with the Dodgers, City of Hope and Childrens Hospital Los Angeles to educate the public and support cancer research."

"Our hope for ThinkCure is that it becomes a civic entity - a community asset," said Dodger Owner and Chairman Frank McCourt. "Today's announcement by KCAL is a huge step in that direction and we deeply appreciate their support."

KCAL 9's commitment to ThinkCure will include on-air exposure through its "Think Blue TV" Dodger pre-game shows, "Sports Central" sports news programs, KCAL 9 newscasts and weather reports, broadcast specials, public service announcements, special event promotion and a special section on www.KCAL9.com.

For more information about ThinkCure or to make a donation, visit www.thinkcure.org or call 866-554-CURE (2873).

KCAL 9 is currently in its second season as the local broadcast television home of the Dodgers. The winner of more Emmy Awards than any other Los Angeles station during the past seven years, KCAL 9 is also the leading broadcaster of local news programming in Southern California. KCAL 9 is the home of the nation's first three-hour, primetime local news broadcast and also offers daily newscasts at Noon, 2, 3 and 4 p.m.
