PHOENIX -- The Los Angeles Dodgers today placed right-handed pitcher Hiroki Kuroda on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Tuesday, with a mild left oblique strain. The club also recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque left-handed pitcher Eric Stults. General Manager Ned Colletti made the announcement.

Kuroda, the Dodgers' Opening Day starter Monday at San Diego, was scheduled to be the starting pitcher in tonight's game against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field. Stults, who will wear No. 50, will start tonight in Kuroda's place.

Kuroda sustained the injury toward the end of his normal between-start bullpen session on Wednesday in San Diego. He is eligible to come off the DL on April 22. Stults, meanwhile, was originally scheduled to start for Albuquerque last night, but was scratched in order to make the start tonight at Arizona.

Kuroda earned the win on Opening Day against the Padres, allowing one run and four hits in 5.2 innings.

Stults made five Cactus League appearances in 2009, allowing 13 runs (12 earned) on 15 hits in 8.1 innings. He also worked in "B" games on March 2 vs. Milwaukee and March 14 vs. Chicago White Sox, as well as a Triple-A game at Seattle on March 30. He worked a total of 17.1 innings this spring before being optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on April 4.

Stults in 2008 went 2-3 with a 3.49 ERA in seven starts over three stints with the Dodgers. He spent the majority of the year with Triple-A Las Vegas, where he went 7-7 with a 3.82 ERA in 20 starts.
