LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Dodgers announced today that the United States Postal Service will designate Dodger Stadium and the associated property with a new signature Zip-90090. The unveiling at Dodger Stadium is scheduled to take place Saturday, June 6, before the Dodgers play the Philadelphia Phillies at 1:10 p.m. on national television.

The Los Angeles City Council designated the property as "Dodgertown" in October, 2008.

"Not only do more than three million citizens call Dodger Stadium their summer home each year but fans from all over the world send cards and letters to the Dodgers organization and their favorite players," said Gregory G. Graves, the Postal Service's district manager for Los Angeles.

"ZIP Codes are as important to the Postal Service as a smooth, accurate delivery is for a pitcher in baseball," said Graves. "The use of 90090 will assure fans of all ages that their mail will be delivered quickly and efficiently."

"This announcement is an honor for the Dodgers, and particularly for our fans," said Dodgers CEO Jamie McCourt, who spearheaded the effort. "Letters can now be written to your favorite Dodgers at our official new Zip Code, 90090. We are happy to have Dodgers Penpals throughout the world."

The Dodgers, whose worldwide fan base stems not only from leading the league in wins, pennants, and world championships since their arrival in LA, but from using baseball to help unify America and more than 30 countries throughout the world.

Dubbing their international fan base, "The World of Dodgertown," where "All are Welcome," the Dodgers have been pioneers in helping to enhance baseball in the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Japan, Korea, Chinese Taipei, and most recently, China.

"We welcome letters in any language, from any person, anywhere in the world," said McCourt. "Baseball is a universal language; baseball is a unifying language."

The Dodgers Ambassadors, a goodwill public relations troupe, will respond to the general fan mail that arrives at 90090.

The official unveiling June 6 will allow special stamp cancellation opportunities for fans and collectors alike.
