Dodgers ink Mays to Minors deal

LOS ANGELES -- With more starters than they know what to do with already, the Dodgers on Tuesday signed former Minnesota Twins right-hander Joe Mays to a Minor League contract with an invitation to big-league camp.

Mays, 31, had an All-Star 17-win season in 2001 for the Twins and parlayed that into a four-year, $20 million contract, but hasn't had a winning season since. He underwent Tommy John elbow reconstruction in 2003, missed all of 2004 and was 0-5 last year splitting time between Cincinnati and Kansas City.

Mays is 48-70 lifetime with a 5.05 ERA.
