Dodgers decline options on two players

Contracts of Lieberthal, Martinez not picked up for 2008

LOS ANGELES -- Grady Little wasn't the only Dodger parting company with the club on Tuesday.

Management declined the options of backup catcher Mike Lieberthal and utility infielder Ramon Martinez. Instead, Lieberthal will receive a $100,000 buyout instead of a $1.4 million salary for 2008 and Martinez will receive a $50,000 buyout instead of a $1 million salary.

Lieberthal played in only 38 games and hit .234 with one RBI as the seldom-used backup to ironman Russell Martin. Martinez hit .194 in 67 games.

The Dodgers also have a $9 million option or $500,000 buyout on left-handed pitcher Randy Wolf, who is coming off shoulder surgery. The Dodgers are expected to pay the $500,000 buyout but still might bring Wolf back under a less expensive deal.
