Jones launches Druw's Crew

Center fielder's program to host families of domestic violence

LOS ANGELES -- New Dodgers center fielder Andruw Jones has launched "Druw's Crew," a program in which he will host children and families from organizations that support victims of domestic violence, a cause to which Jones has been dedicated since his playing days in Atlanta.

The program debuted at Thursday night's game between the Dodgers and Diamondbacks. The group of children and families watched batting practice, received autographs and were provided a meal voucher from Panda Express

"I am really happy to join the Dodgers Dream Foundation in supporting the Los Angeles community and hosting these kids and their families at Dodger Stadium," said Jones. "This stadium is known for its family-friendly atmosphere and I want to be able to provide that special experience for them."

In addition to his commitment to "Druw's Crew," this season, Jones will donate $150,000 of his salary to the Dodgers' Dream Foundation. In 2006 and while with the Atlanta Braves, Jones donated $50,000 and hosted a fundraising party for the Atlanta chapter of "Jaden's Ladder," a charity that helps abused women, and took part in various community events supporting the Braves Foundation. Jones attended the Dodgers Children's Holiday party in 2007 and fully sponsors Curacao's Little League team.
