Having clinched, Dodgers skip Maddux

Stults gets nod; decision on veteran righty's next start not set

LOS ANGELES -- Having clinched the National League West title on Thursday before they arrived at Dodger Stadium, the Dodgers bumped Greg Maddux from his start, replacing him with Eric Stults.

Maddux was scheduled to face Jake Peavy in the finale of a three-game series against the Padres, but Stults will instead make his seventh start of the season.

There was not immediate word on when Maddux will start next. Maddux has gone 1-4 with a 5.71 ERA in six starts for the Dodgers since being traded from San Diego on Aug. 16.
