"No chance," Ramirez said to the Gold Glove suggestion.
Nonetheless, he made an amazing catch with runners on first and second and two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, flagging down Brendan Ryan's bid for extra bases with a catch near the left-field fence.
"I anticipated what to do if that happened," Ramirez said. "I hustled and jumped at the fence and got lucky there."
Ramirez flipped the ball into the stands, it fell back to the field, then he flipped it back into the stands.
"I wanted to give it to the fans," he said.
Ramirez was laughing as he accepted high-fives when he returned to the dugout.
"I thought it was a home run," Dodgers manager Joe Torre said.
"I didn't know if the ball had gone out, but he definitely saved a couple runs," pitcher Clayton Kershaw said. "When he came down, I didn't know he had it."
"I was on my knees," catcher Russell Martin said. "He jumped early and I thought the ball went over the fence, then it looked like it was off the fence when he picked it up and he threw it back over. It was awesome. He's playing good 'D' out there."
