Mariners at the plate: Matt Tuiasosopo homered leading off the ninth inning. Ichiro Suzuki had the only two hits off Charlie Haeger. The Mariners left the bases loaded in the seventh when pinch-hitter Mike Sweeney flied out to the warning track in left field.
Dodgers at the plate: Andre Ethier homered in the third inning. Casey Blake doubled home Manny Ramirez in the second inning and scored on Brad Ausmus' sacrifice fly. Blake had two hits.
Mariners on the mound: Ian Snell was charged with three runs on four hits in six innings with three strikeouts and no walks. David Aardsma pitched a scoreless seventh inning with one hit and one strikeout.
Dodgers on the mound: Knuckleballer Haeger took charge of the fifth starter spot, throwing 5 1/3 scoreless innings on two hits with five strikeouts and one walk. His spring ERA is 2.38. Ramon Ortiz, trying out for short relief, pitched two-thirds of an inning. His spring ERA is 1.23. Rule 5 pick Carlos Monasterios did not pass the test for pitching on consecutive days, being removed after loading the bases with a hit and pair of walks with two outs in the seventh inning. Russ Ortiz, fighting for a job, allowed a solo home run in his second inning of work.
Worth noting: Adam Moore, leading off third base for the Mariners, was struck on the foot by a vicious line drive off the bat of Sweeney in the seventh inning while in foul ground. Moore stayed in the game. Ausmus threw out Chone Figgins trying to steal second base in front of another Cactus League record crowd of 13,583.

The only meeting of the Cactus League season between the Mariners and Cubs is Sunday, 1:05 p.m. PT, at Peoria Stadium, where a huge crowd is expected to watch the interleague game, pushing the home attendance over the 100,000 mark for the 12 of the past 13 years.
