Silverio to represent Dodgers in Futures Game

LOS ANGELES -- Minor League outfielder Alfredo Silverio, 24, will represent the Dodgers in the 2011 13th annual XM All-Star Futures Game.

Silverio, who will play for the World team, has spent the season with Double-A Chattanooga, where he his hitting .324 with seven homers and a .581 slugging percentage. The game, which will take place Sunday, July 10, gives Silverio a chance to showcase his speed, too. He has 11 triples and nine stolen bases this season for the Lookouts.

Current Dodgers who have competed in past Futures Games include left-hander Clayton Kershaw, shortstops Rafael Furcal and Dee Gordon, catcher Dioner Navarro and outfielder Trent Oeltjen.

The Futures Game can be seen live on MLB.TV, ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD and followed live on MLB.com's Gameday on Taco Bell All-Star Sunday at 3 p.m. PT. In addition, XM Radio will broadcast play-by-play coverage of the event live on XM 175.

Major League Baseball, along with with the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau, MLB.com, Baseball America, USA Baseball and the 30 Major League Baseball clubs, selected the 25-man rosters for each club. Each organization is represented, and the World Team features players from 12 countries and territories. Players from all full-season Minor Leagues were eligible to participate.
