Infielder Carroll takes trade rumors in stride

That's Jamey Carroll's view of the trade speculation surrounding him as Sunday's non-waiver Trade Deadline approaches.
Carroll's name hasn't been mentioned as often as his teammate, Hiroki Kuroda, but it has been brought up. He could serve as a useful utility piece and a valuable clubhouse guy for a contending club.
"It's nice to know you're appreciated, that people think that you can help," Carroll said of his name being brought up in rumors. "But at the same time, it is what it is ... I have no control over anything. It's not in my hands."
Carroll, who hasn't been dealt at the Deadline before but has been discussed, said he doesn't expect to be traded and isn't sure how he'd feel until after he got the news.
Carroll added that his friends and family keep him updated on any new rumors swirling around.
As for playing for a World Series contender, Carroll has only been able to once -- the 2007 Rockies.
"Who wouldn't [want to play for a contender]?" he said. "Everybody that's in this game would love that. That's what it's all about. That's what you bust your butt for all year round. I've only been in it once and I understand that's what the hard work is all about."
