GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Adam Eaton had two hits and Paul Goldschmidt homered Monday as the D-backs scored a 5-3 win over the Dodgers, who received the first two hits and RBIs of the spring from Carl Crawford.
Arizona scored in the second inning off Josh Wall, a reliever who inherited the start when a flu-stricken Josh Beckett was scratched to pitch a simulated game instead. The D-backs scored with three hits, two of them of the infield variety, and despite running into a double play.
The D-backs added to the lead with a pair of runs against Peter Moylan in the third inning with an infield single by A.J. Pollock and an RBI triple by Eaton, who scored on Willie Bloomquist's groundout.
Goldschmidt made the lead 4-0 with a long one-out home run off left-hander Paco Rodriguez in the fourth inning.
The Dodgers finally got to Arizona starter Randall Delgado in the fifth inning. Elian Herrera singled, stole second and took third on Dee Gordon's bunt single. After Gordon stole second, both were driven home by Crawford's line single.
Delgado went five innings and was charged with two runs on six hits with three strikeouts and a walk.
Arizona tacked on a run in the seventh, but Los Angeles answered with one of its own in the bottom half of the inning.
Up next: At last check, Chris Capuano will start Tuesday at 1:05 p.m. PT for the Dodgers against Dan Straily and the Oakland A's at Camelback Ranch. But with all of the changes because of pitching ailments, "the scenario has been changing so fast lately," manager Don Mattingly said. After getting a rest Monday, Cuban sensation Yasiel Puig is expected to play in Tuesday's game.
