Dodgers release right-handed reliever Lowe

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Dodgers released pitcher Mark Lowe on Sunday, leaving Kevin Gregg and Peter Moylan as the remaining non-roster pitchers in camp.
Lowe had an opt-out in his contract for Monday or the Dodgers had to guarantee his $1.5 million contract. Gregg and Moylan can be sent down to the Minor Leagues, although Gregg has pitched well enough to make the club if not for the glut of pitchers on the 40-man roster.
"Having eight starting pitchers has the possibility of changing the dynamics of our bullpen," said manager Don Mattingly, hinting the club is thinking about keeping all eight, with Aaron Harang, Chris Capuano and Ted Lilly apparently looking at bullpen roles.
"Lowe didn't do anything wrong in camp. We just didn't have a spot," Mattingly said. "Gregg and Moylan, they both don't have deadlines. We had to make a decision."
