Jorge Sosa took a shutout into the fifth inning, but he yielded six runs and didn't survive the sixth. David Wright gave the Mets an early lead with an RBI single in the first, extending his hitting streak to 15 games, but the New York offense struggled against a very effective Brad Penny.
Brad Penny held the Mets to one run on seven hits in seven innings en route to his eighth victory, and the offense came to life late to deliver the Dodgers' first sweep of the Mets since 2002. Wilson Betemit and James Loney went deep, Matt Kemp had three hits and Rafael Furcal had a pair of triples.
