Reggie Willits' two-run single in the fifth inning broke a scoreless deadlock, and Jered Weaver tossed 5 1/3 shutout innings for his sixth victory. Angels relievers Darren Oliver, Scot Shields and Francisco Rodriguez sealed the deal with flawless outings.

Early exit for Schmidt By Ken Gurnick / MLB.com
Jason Schmidt pitched shutout ball for the first four innings, but the Angels drove his pitch count up and knocked him out of the game with a three-run fifth. The right-hander remained winless in three starts since his DL stint as the Dodgers could not get on the board against four Angels pitchers.
