Dodgers move into first

The Dodgers took over the National League West lead on Tony Abreu's 10th-inning big fly, the first of his career. Fellow rookie James Loney made his presence felt at the plate as well, picking up three hits, including his third homer, and three RBIs.

Eric Byrnes led off the game with a homer, Chris Young added a solo shot in the second and Mark Reynolds launched a pinch-hit big fly in the fourth, but the bats went cold down the stretch against the Dodgers bullpen. Doug Slaten gave up a two-out homer in the 10th to take the loss.
