With the all-time home run king watching from the front row, the Giants scored two runs in the eighth on balls that traveled a total of perhaps 70 feet. That helped erase the sting of giving up a three-run lead the inning before, wasting a solid start by Barry Zito, who tossed six shutout innings before tiring in the seventh.
