Kids can collect Upper Deck and Topps baseball cards -- and maybe even their own rookie cards -- in this year's editions of Baseball Youth magazine.

Baseball cards featuring two Major League stars will be inserted in each of the magazine's six issues this year, and a third card in each edition will feature a youth player selected on the basis of his or her written submission and photograph.

"What makes this promotion so unique is that a kid gets to have their trading card created and printed right next to the pros," publisher Scott Hacker said. "Imagine what these kids can tell their friends if we make their baseball card."

Kids are encouraged to send in a photo of themselves in their baseball uniform as well as a personal bio, stats and a paragraph describing their baseball card collection. Baseball Youth magazine will choose the winners from the entries received.

"This is the first time we've offered kids an opportunity to have their own baseball card printed right next to the cards of some of their favorite big leaguers," said Evan Kaplan, the MLBPA's category director for trading cards and new business. "It's sure to be a keepsake each of the winners will cherish forever."

The promotion will be publicized on the Baseball Youth Road Trip that travels to major youth baseball tournaments across the country with an interactive FanFest experience. Topps and Upper Deck are national sponsors of the Road Trip along with the MLBPA, Louisville Slugger, Backyard Sports, Disney Channel, Disney's Wide World of Sports and AirHeads.
