Affeldt, Romo and Wellemeyer to provide San Francisco area children with an unforgettable day at the ballpark

SAN FRANCISCO -- Prior to this evening’s game at AT&T Park, Giants players Jeremy Affeldt, Buster Posey, Sergio Romo and Todd Wellemeyer will provide everlasting memories to a group of 50 children from Willie Mays Boys & Girls Club at Hunters Point as the Major League Baseball Players Trust’s Buses for Baseball program motors into San Francisco.

Developed in partnership with San Francisco officials in 2005, the Willie Mays Boys & Girls Club at Hunters Point serves as the only full-service resource and safe haven for 6- to 18-year-olds in Hunters Point Hill. The Club's signature services include leadership and multimedia programs, behavioral health services, organized sports and organic cooking and gardening programs.

Courtesy of the players’ charitable foundation, the children will receive round-trip transportation to the game, meet the players, and receive free tickets, food, beverages and souvenirs.

This season, “Buses for Baseball” will provide transportation and personal greetings for more than 1,500 underprivileged children attending Major League Baseball games as invited guests of their big league heroes. Buses for Baseball will provide many of the children with their first chance to attend a Major League Baseball game.

The Players Trust enjoys support from the San Francisco Giants organization in providing this unique, up close and personal opportunity to share the thrill of Major League Baseball with those less fortunate.
